Chautauqua Press Release: MASH Star Coming to Greensburg A star of the iconic TV series MASH to speak at a rural Indiana high school? That is correct. -If you want to hear the inspirational story of Mike Farrell, his only Indiana appearance will be at Greensburg High School. The noted actor, best known for portraying Captain B. J. Hunnicutt, will be the featured speaker at the Greensburg Chautauqua beginning at 7:00PM on Thursday April 27th. The cost of a ticket is only $5, but a big crowd is expected so everyone is encouraged to buy tickets in advance. The Greensburg Chautauqua is mirrored after the great Chautauqua movement so popular some 100 years ago. Historys great lecturers and musicians traveled to small towns all across the country to provide unique enlightenment. Helen Keller and William Jennings Bryan both spoke in Greensburg. That tradition has been revived thanks to U.S. History teacher John Pratt, and his next event will bring a guest from across the country once again. This will be his 19th event and has hosted over 200 speakers from around the globe. Mike Farrell started his acting career in the 1960s, guest starring in such TV shows as Lassie and The Monkees. He can even be seen in the movie The Graduate. In 1970 he became a regular on the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives followed by the CBS prime-time series The Interns. He received his big break in 1975 when he joined the cast of MASH, the same year as Harry Morgan who played Colonel Sherman Potter. He remained a star on the show the remaining eight seasons, where he also wrote five episodes and directed four. Since then a few of his career highlights has been starring for three seasons on Providence , he appeared on two seasons of Desperate Housewives, and he produced the film Patch Adams which featured Robin Williams. Mr. Farrell is also known for his work as an activist for many political and social causes. The event would not be possible without the support of Decatur County REMC. For more information go to www.gchschautauqua.org. Tickets can be purchased at Greensburg High School, the Greensburg Public Library, or on-line.
